Biography

Like his colleagues, he did not enter the creative field directly. After finishing secondary school in 1964, he studied at the Samarkand Financial Technical School. After returning from military service (1966-1969), he performed various duties as an accountant on a collective farm, club manager, and worked for the district newspaper and regional radio between 1969 and 1971. At the same time, he completed his studies at the Faculty of Journalism of the Tashkent State University by correspondence.

Starting in 1981, he came to Tashkent and worked in magazines such as "Yosh Gvardiya" publishing house, "Yosh Kuch", and "Mushtum". Currently, he is the editor-in-chief of the "Cholpon" publishing house. Although Anvar Obidjon's work began in the 60s, and his first poem titled "Shkafcham" was published in the "Ghuncha" magazine, his first book was published in 1974 under the name "Ona Yer" by the "Yosh Gvardiya" publishing house.

Since then, for nearly 20 years, his poetic and prose books such as "Bahromning hikoyalari" (1981), "Olovjon va uning do'stlari" (1983), "Ey, yorug' dunyo" (1983), "Ketmagil" (1985), "Bezgakshamol" (1985), "Alhamazon i yego pexota", "Masxaraboz bola" (1980), "Juda qiziq voqea" (1987), "Oltin yurakli avtobola" (1988), and "Dahshatli Meshpolvon" (1990) have been published. In addition to these, the writer's plays such as "Qo'ng'iroqli yolg'onchi" and "Pahlavonning o'g'irlanishi" have seen the stage. In almost most of these works, the impure sides, vices, and flaws of people and life are exposed through bitter, ironic, or gentle laughter. Anvar Obidjon's work is at the peak of its maturity.

One can believe that he joins the ranks of talents like his mentors Abdulla Qahhor, Said Ahmad, and Ne'mat Hamidov.
